For the proof of the irrationality of the square root of 2 different proofs exist. This article explains in detail the indirect proof variant and introduces one of the possible short spellings in mathematical notation. Exercises with solutions consolidate what has been learned.
The duplex file versions have a type-area optimized for duplex-capable printers (double-sided printing), the margin widths vary depending on even or odd page numbers.
